Abstract
La molécule de l’insuline a fait l’objet d’un certain nombre de développement depuis sa première utilisation il y a un siècle. Néanmoins, l’insulinothérapie présente encore des lacunes majeures. En premier lieu, l’insuline est associée au risque d’hypoglycémie le plus élevé parmi tous les traitements disponibles des thérapies antidiabétiques ; de plus, la voie d’administration sous-cutanée, souvent associée à des effets indésirables tels que la prise de poids et d’autres facteurs psychosociaux, rend de nombreux patients et médecins réticents à initier une insulinothérapie. Cet article met l’accent sur les insulines qui sont déjà entrées dans la phase clinique. Il s’agit de différentes pistes de solutions pour l’administration de l’insuline dans le but d’assurer le confort du patient et d’améliorer l’observance du traitement.
